Marvin Wayne Carpenter

Marvin Wayne “Starvin’ Marvin” Carpenter, 66, of Dallas, passed away June 27 from respiratory complications associated with a long battle with prostate cancer.

Marvin was born on Oct. 23, 1941 to Rodolph and Ruby Lee Cogswell Carpenter in Crockett, Tx. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1960, served in the US Navy, and was awarded the AFEM during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He began a longtime career in sales in 1966 spending the majority of his years in RV sales in the DFW area, Gilbert, Ariz. and Mission, Tx. He was a member of the Hella Temple, Jesters, Mini Patrol, Rolling Nobles and a 33rd degree Mason.

Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his father, Rodolph Carpenter.

He is survived by mother, Ruby Lee Carpenter; his only child, Pamela Mason; her children, Stewart, Megan and Mitchell Mason; sisters, Trina Sweet and husband Andy, Marsha Hodges and husband David, brothers Michael Carpenter, Marshal Carpenter and Jerry Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Flower Mound Family Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008.

Memorials may be made to Veterans Hospital in Dallas.
