James “Jay” Walding

Services for James “Jay” Walding, 80, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Butch Lockard officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mr. Walding died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 1, 1928 to John and Johnnie Lewis Walding.

Mr. Walding was a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Walding is survived by his daughter, Lisa Hardin and husband John of Mineola; sons, Jerry Walding and wife Joy, Larry Walding and wife Pam, and David Walding and wife Denise, all of Palestine; sisters, Evelyn Armstrong of Jacksonville and Gwendolyn Morris of Houston; brothers, H.M. Walding and wife Lou of Greenville, and Gaylon Walding of Palestine; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be sons, grandsons and niece.

Condolence calls will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Bailey & Foster Chapel before the service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to a charity of choice.
