John C. “Jack” Funderburk

John C. “Jack” Funderburk, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went home to be with his Lord and Savior, July 19, 2008. Jack leaves behind a legacy that has touched and changed the lives of the people he knew.

Jack leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Eva Nell Funderburk, daughter Carla Barton of Trophy Club, two grandchildren Mandy Hargrave of Plano, and Jeremy Hargrave of North Richland Hills, a sister Mildred Young of Palestine. He is preceded in death by his parents Van and Eva Rogers Funderburk, brothers L.D.; Van; and Conard Funderburk, sisters Maureen Campbell, Ruth Huddleston, and Velma Bennett.

For the past five years Jack has been known around the area as the medical and rehabilitation van driver for Palestine Regional Medical Center. Jack is also an honored veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After leaving the military he had a career in the oil business that led him all over the United States and Canada. Jack owned his own business, Jack Funderburk Bit Tipping Service. Jack is a member of the Fields Chapel Methodist Church. His colorful life will never be forgotten, nor will the impact he made on so many lives.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 22, at 10:00 A.M. at Bailey & Foster Chapel with David Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in Chambers Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hargrave, Donald Bacco, Darrell Harris, Tony Mason, Mark Harcrow, James Warren, David Reeder and Randy White. Honorary pallbearers will be the entire Palestine EMS.

Condolence calls will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
