Services for Dorothy McDonald, 82, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Sam Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Neches Cemetery are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mrs. McDonald died Monday at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
She was born March 14, 1926 in Llano, Texas to Raleigh and Ethel Howard Crider.
Mrs. McDonald was a homemaker and a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital in Palestine. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1941 and from the Houston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She was a member of the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years. She was a charter member of Harvey Woman’s Club serving twice as past president. She was also a member of the Dogwood Garden Club, Episcopal Church Women and Newcomers Association.
Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, attorney John B. McDonald in 1998; and a brother, Robert L. Crider.
She is survived by her daughter, Daryl Ann Sorrells and husband Johnnie of McKinney; sons, John Ballard McDonald and Raleigh McDonald, both of Palestine; a sister, Barbara Campbell; eight grandchildren, Tracy Manning, Jason Sorrells, John Cole McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Sarah Kniffen, Michelle Adams, Carrie McDonald, and Elizabeth Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason McDonald Sorrells, DeWayne Manning, John Cole McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Michael Adams, Justin Kniffen, Ricky Smith and Ralph Pfleeger.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
