Betty Weems Woolverton went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2008 at the age of 94 years. She was born Sept. 5, 1913 at Tennessee Colony and lived there all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Kate Weems; her husband, Alton Woolverton; brothers, Max Weems and Olan Weems of Tennessee Colony, Dalton Weems of LaGrange; and sisters, Marie Minton, Freda Avant and Annie Laura Ward of Tennessee Colony; sons-in-law, Billy Joe Ellis and Bill Fox.
She is survived by son, Ben Gary Woolverton and wife Carol of Malakoff; daughter, Joan Fox of Tennessee Colony; brother, Edger Weems and wife Adley of Nederland; grandchildren, Joe Ben Ellis, Lisa Wolverton McDonald, Greg Ellis and Gary Woolverton; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was very active in her church, community and extended family. She was loved and respected by all that knew her.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29 at the Tennessee Colony Church with Brother Wick Stuckey officiating. Visitation will be at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm. The burial will be at the Tennessee Colony Cemetery following the service.
Pallbearers include Gary Woolverton, Kieth McDonald, Joe Ben Ellis, Greg Ellis, Jed Weems and Boyd Weems.
