Vern “Granny or Mama Speck” Speck

Services for Vern “Granny or Mama Speck” Speck, 85, of Jacksonville, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Ken McEachern, Donna Reynolds and the Rev. Tom Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery.

Mrs. Speck passed away Wednesday in Jacksonville.

She was born Aug. 2, 1924 in Frankfort, Mich. to Harold and Beatrice Wilson.

She was a member of Beall Chapel Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She served in the U.S. Navy Waves and was seamstress for 20 years in the Jacksonville area. She also worked at Medivac for several years before retiring in 1994.

Mrs. Speck is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and husband, Dixie Speck.

She is survived by children, Shawn Loftin and husband Kenneth of Troup, Bill Speck and wife Reneé, Jennifer Joseph and husband Phil and Waive Reynolds, all of Jacksonville; sisters, Waive Wardwell of Michigan, Earline Gibson of Indiana and Allegria Hibma of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons Mac, Bart, Shannon, Josh, Michael, Matthew, Brandon and Kyle.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Sunday school class at Beall Chapel Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
