Lucille Smith
Services for Lucille Smith, 87, of Elkhart will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Church with Bro. Benny Burlison officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Our mother, nanny, nanoose, and “angel on earth” walked through the gates of Heaven on September 17th at 8:46 a.m. with her family by her side.
Lucille was born on Nov. 3, 1921 in Tyler, Texas to Herbert and Lucy Owens. After meeting the love of her life, Raymond Earl Smith, they married on June 25th, 1938. They moved to Elkhart, Texas in 1958 with their five children.
Lucille lived a long and devoted life to her family and her Lord.
The legacy she leaves behind is her brother, Carl Monroe Owens Sr. of Tyler; her five children, Mary Negethon and late husband Gene of Palestine, Patricia McKinney and husband Hubert of Palestine, Randall Smith and wife Joyce of Tyler, Janice Durham and husband Travis of Seven Points, Donna Dancer and husband Harold of Kemp; 17 beautiful grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her sweetheart, Raymond Earl Smith; grandsons, Buddy Earl Dancer and Charles Benjamin McKinney.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Ricky Negethon, Robert McKinney, Wayne Smith, Monte Dancer, Travis Durham Jr.; and great-grandson, Andrew Luce. Honorary pallbearers will be close friend Kenneth Knowlton and great-grandsons.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
