Jerry Edwin Tilson

Services for Jerry Edwin Tilson, 63, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elkhart Church of Christ.  Burial will follow in Myrtle Springs Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Tilson passed away Sept. 23 in Tyler. 

He was born June 17, 1946 in Tulsa, Okla. to Johnny Tilson, Jr.and Catherine Slaybaugh Tilson. 

Mr. Tilson was a member of the Elkhart Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army and the Kansas National Guard. He worked for the Phillips Railcar Maintenance facility and retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. 

He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother, Catherine Tilson of Elkhart; wife, Darleen of Elkhart; daughter and husband, Miria and Chris Dean of Elkhart; daughter and husband, Jean and Todd Hartman of Rolla, Mo.; grandsons, Blake Dean, Caleb Dean, Premier Hartman and Ransom Hartman; granddaughters, Cheyenne Gross, and Trinity Hartman; sisters, Cathie Biggers and Nancy Tilson; brothers, Harlan Stevens and Terry Stevens; niece, Sara Hellum; and many other family and friends. 

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
