Edith L. Parker

Services for Edith L. Parker will be held 3 p.m. Monday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel, Palestine with the Rev. Gary Luker and Michael Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Evergeen Cemetery at Percilla. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Parker went to be with the Lord  Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009. She died while  at the David E. Foster Hospice Unit of Palestine Regional Medical Center. She was born June 27, 1927 in Anderson County to Oran Germany and Althea Chaffin Germany.

A lifelong resident of Slocum, she was a loving wife and mother who devoted herself to raising her children to know Jesus as their Savior. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church of Elkhart.  She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Parker, Sr. and a daughter Virginia Dillingham. She is survived by sons: J.D. Parker, Jr. and wife Gail, Curtis Parker and wife Linda, Terry Parker and wife Debra, Mike Parker and wife Laura; daughter, Mary Bell and husband Michael; sister, Beth Dobbs and a brother Sidney Germany of Liberty; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
