Winifred H. Tanton

Graveside services for Winifred Hollis Tanton, 86, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Tanton died Friday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Mount Pleasant, to Ben and Bessie Lawler Tanton.

Mr. Tanton had lived in Palestine since 1956 and was a Baptist. He served in the US Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Zelma Tanton in 1994; and a sister, Winnie Helbert in 1969.

Mr. Tanton is survived by a daughter, Linda Middleton and husband Lloyd of Palestine; and a niece, Nancy Bryant of Ohio.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
