Cecil Rayford Crowson
Cecil Rayford Crowson, 77, of Lovelady, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett.
He was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Pearson Chapel. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a 3rd Class Petty Officer during the Korean War as an engine man aboard the USS Henry W. Tucker. Mr. Crowson married Helen Hyett Crowson on Dec.1, 1956; she was the love of his life. He was a member of the Grace Street Church of Christ and also the Lovelady Masonic Lodge #539 as a 32 degree Mason and Scottish Rite.
Family member include sons, Rayford Kenneth Crowson and wife, Cheryl of Sundance, Wyoming and James Marcus Crowson and wife, Pam of Lovelady. Grandchildren: Michael and Matthew of Sundance, Luke, Cody and Samantha of Houston County. Also sister, Louise McDonald of Crockett and brothers, George Morris Crowson and wife, Barbara of Lovelady and Johnny Crowson and wife, Jeanette of Holland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rick and Diann Blackwell of Crockett and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by father, Cecil O. Crowson and mother, Sulie Corbitt Crowson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct.7, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Randy Hargrove and Dr. John Montgomery officiating. Military and Masonic graveside services will follow in the Concord Cemetery in Mont Alba. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crohn’s Foundation or the American Heart Association.
