Earl Hamilton Elrod

Graveside service for Earl Hamilton Elrod, 78, of Palestine will be at Land of Memory at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. John Day and the Rev. Glenn Taylor officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Elrod passed away Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 8, 1930 in Palestine to Sam Abe Elrod and Vera Thomas Elrod.

Mr. Elrod was a Baptist. He worked for many years at Sunshine Laundry and retired with Palestine Fire Department after 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Elrod; sisters, Edith Gore and Jane Downing.

Mr. Elrod is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Elrod of Palestine; daughters, Carol Taylor and husband Jerry of Alderbranch, Rhonda Astrowski and husband Dan of Slocum; brothers, Jimmy Elrod, Sam Junior Elrod and wife Betty, all of Palestine; sisters, Hazel Darrington and husband Lawrence of Fairfield, Christine Hackett and husband Buddy of Elkhart, Nancy Dunlap and husband Raymond of Elkhart; brother-in-law, Larry Downing of Henderson; grandchildren, Brandon Bell and wife Juanita, Cammie Olmos and husband Carlos and Jeff Glenn; four stepgrandsons, Larry, Glenn and Darron Taylor and Robert Astrowski; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Palestine.
