Patsy Anne Bearden Revill passed away Oct. 17, 2009 after a long illness. Services include a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 and funeral services set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at Herrington Land of Memory Funeral Home in Palestine with the Rev. Bob Moon from First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Patsy was born Dec. 31, 1937 in Farmerville, La. to Ernest Ozell and Tina Ann Henry Bearden. She was raised with four loving brothers in North Louisiana. She graduated from Quachita High School in Monroe, La. in 1956. She received her BS degree from Northeast Louisiana State University in 1959 where she was listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She worked for the athletic department and was editor of the school yearbook. She initially taught first grade in North Louisiana.
She met and married the love of her life, Captain (later Colonel) Lawrence A. Revill when he taught ROTC at Louisiana Polytechnic Institute. They married May 19, 1967, in Monroe, La., a match made in heaven. They were inseparable for the next 42 years except for one year he spent in Vietnam. They served at the Defense Supply Agency in Washington D.C.; the 22nd Bomb Wing, Strategic Air Command, March Air Force Base, California; Headquarters Air Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas; The Air Force Space Division, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Sheppard Technical Training Center, Wichita Falls, Texas.
During these assignments, Pat was always the leader in establishing and operating Family Service Centers to help young Airmen and their families in need. She provided counseling, a pantry, bedding, pots and pans and arranged medical assistance and financial support when needed. During their assignments to the space program she was active in community relations and close personal friends with Air Force scientists as they developed the Space Shuttle, the Global Positioning Satellite System and the Space Defense Initiative.
While in California, she spent many volunteer hours working with learning disabled children. Pat continued to teach first grade at Bynum and West, Texas after her husband’s retirement from the United States Air Force. She retired from a professional teaching career in September 1997, having taught in Louisiana, Northern Virginia, California and Texas. She loved her school children greatly, a love that they returned many times over the years. She was listed in “Who’s Who Among Teachers in America” four times. Pat loved to travel. She made many trips to England, Europe, Hawaii, Canada and Alaska. Pat was a devout member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Colonel Lawrence A. Revill; son, Christopher A. Revill; son, Lawrence E. Revill and wife Clara; two grandchildren, Catherine and Stephanie Revill; brother, Durward Bearden and wife Dot; brother, Kermit Bearden and wife Darlene; brother, Ben Bearden and wife Sally; sister-in-law, Zemma Bearden; and 12 nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Bearden; mother, Tina Bearden; and brother, Norwood Bearden.
Pat was a loving wife, devoted mother, great teacher and devout Christian. She left this world a better place.
