Betty Hamlett Fryar Meyer

Graveside services for Betty Hamlett Fryar Meyer, 79, of Carrollton, and formerly of Palestine and Hide A Way Lake, will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Land of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Hay officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mrs. Meyer died Friday at the Brookhaven Nursing Center in Carrollton.

She was born Feb. 13, 1930 in Palestine to Allen Lee and Clara Frances Taylor Hamlett.

Mrs. Meyer was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clarence David Fryar Jr., in 1969; and her second husband, Bill Meyer, in 1989; and two sisters, Virginia Salmon and Aliene Douglas.

Mrs. Meyer is survived by her daughter Sheila Ann Butler of Dallas; son, David Fryar of Carrollton; four grandchildren, Stephen Butler and wife Michele of Orlando, Fla., Stacey Swearengen and husband Jimmy of Arlington, Bradley Fryar and Andrea Fryar, both of Carrollton; and one great-grandson Cade Swearengen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Les Dietz, Terry Lindsey, Jerry Taylor, Sam May, Darryl May, David Meaux, Ronnie Averitt, Stephen Butler and the members of the 1946 graduating class of Palestine High School.

Condolence calls will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
