Funeral services for Glenn Bolyard, 62, of Athens, Texas will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Athens with Mike Dean officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at McDonald Cemetery in New Summerfield.
Mr. Bolyard passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 in Tyler, Texas.
Glenn Harold Bolyard was born on Feb. 10, 1951 in Independence, West Virginia to Harold Bolyard and Alice Collins Bolyard.
He joined the Air Force in 1971 and served as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist on tours to Guam and the Philippines before being Honorably Discharged in 1974. He raced dirt bikes in the '70s and later became an avid outdoorsman enjoying deer hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards and was a great mechanic. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Athens. He was a loving father, son, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Harold Bolyard; one brother, Willard Bolyard; and a nephew, Rex Nolan Dyson.
He is survived by his mother, Alice Rice and husband Coy of Athens; one daughter, Ashley Burkman of Abilene; one granddaughter, Lila Burkman of Abilene; four sisters, Carolyn James and husband Terry of Houston, Dianne Muecke and husband Brent of Larue, Peggy Shirley of Dayton, and Vickey Rice of Hurst; three brothers, Jeff Bolyard of Houston, Charles David Rice of Teague, and Michael Coy Rice and wife Terri of Granbury; six nephews, Russell Dyson, James Gibson, Derek James, Bobby James and wife Karen, Michael Grady and wife Lisa, and Kevin Grady; five nieces, Lesley Malloy, Toni Dyson, Jamie Rebando and husband Chris, Dee Dee Shelton and husband Rob, and Christian Akina and husband Erik; 17 great-nieces and nephews, Hunter, Zackary, Dakota, Meaghan, MacKenzie, Christian, Lillie, Caden, Eric, Braelynn, Amy, Audrey, Brandon, Charles, Matthew, Eric and Andrew
Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Dyson, James Gibson, Derek James, Chris Rebando, Erik Akina and Chuck Simoneaux.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
