Evelyn Marie Crawford Martin, 92, died March 23, 2013 in Sacramento, Calif. She was born on Sept. 28, 1920 in the Neches area of Anderson County. She was the 12th of 14 children born to Rosie Elizabeth and Floyd Crawford Sr.
Evelyn attended Flint Hill School and graduated from Clemons High School in 1940.
She was married, lived in San Antonio, then moved to California, where a baby girl was born but died in childhood.
While living in California, the Church of God in Christ was always pivotal in her life and she served in several different churches in various leadership capacities.
Mrs. Martin’s survivors include four children, Wonderful, Princess, Veronica and Constantino Sr.; six grandchildren, Zareth-Shahar, Xzavie, Echell, Constantino Jr., Tino Tyree, Anthonie and a surrogate grandchild, Jamahl. She is also survived by the great-grandchildren, Emaysia and Qyzavik; other relatives, caring friends and neighbors.
A funeral service was held on April 12 in Sacramento at the Showers of Blessings Church of God in Christ.
There will be a viewing for Mrs. Martin at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 22. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
