“Tot” Luton

Carter “Tot” Ruperd Luton III, 72, of Palestine, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Luton was born on March 8, 1941 in Ada, Okla. to Carter Ruperd Luton II and Pearl Louise Reeder Luton.

He worked as a mud pump engineer all over the world and settled in Palestine in 1995.

Mr. Luton was a devoted friend of Bill W. for over 32 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna Katharine McCune; nephew, Steven Wayne McCune; great-great nephew, Bradlee Brelsford; and Patricia Luton.

He is survived by his wife Julia of 16 years; father William H. Hodges of Arkansas; daughters Heather Aldridge of North Carolina and Elizabeth Ann Luton and husband Roger Russo of Houston; uncle James Stephen Reeder of Mazatlan, Mexico; sisters-in-law, Jemi Sager Gillen of New Jersey and Jeanna Reeverts Gillen of Colorado Springs; brother-in-law, James Sager Gillen and wife Sarah of Texarkana; nieces, Sophia Gillen of New Jersey, Elizabeth Gillen of New Jersey, and Barbara McCune of California; nephews, George Gillen of New Jersey, James Gillen of Texarkana, Daniel Gillen of Texarkana, Nathanial Gillen of Texarkana, Noah Reeverts of Colorado Springs and Nickalas Gillen of Colorado Springs; great-niece, Helena Billings of California; great-nephew, Aaron McCune of California; granddaughters, Alison Russo and Catherine Russo of England; and innumerable fellow friends of Bill W.
