— Services for Horace Edward “Ed” Dancer, 74, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel in Palestine with Roger Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Parker Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Dancer died Saturday at Sterling House.

He was born Jan. 25, 1940 in Maydelle to Calvin and Effie (Ross) Dancer.

Mr. Dancer was a retired construction superintendent. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war.

He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Dancer was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Robbie Dancer; and a brother, Terry Dancer.

He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Nivens and husband Craig of Palestine; sons, Randy Dancer and wife Katy of Redlands, Calif., Danny Dancer of Grapeland, and Farrell Dancer and wife Staca of Grapeland; sisters, Betty Zorn of Jacksonville and Janice Pitts of Grapeland; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Dancer, Samantha Nivens, Alyssa Dancer, Kelsey Dancer, Jordan Dancer, Kaylie Dancer, Ryan Nivens, Justine Dancer and Sarah Dancer.

Pallbearers will be Daryl Magles, Zack Gibson, Terry Huffines, Jonathan Dancer, Jordan Dancer and Ryan Nivens.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
