Tommy Pierce Jr.

Graveside services for Tommy Pierce Jr., 88, of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pierce Family Cemetery with the Rev. Rod Skelton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Pierce died Saturday at Greenbrier Nursing Center.

He was born June 7, 1925 in San Antonio to Tommy and Thelma Pierce.

Mr. Pierce served in the 36th MP Co. and 312th Medical Unit of the 81st Infantry.

He married Mary Florence McCloskey on Oct, 12, 1946. He was a longtime member of the Montalba Christian Church. Mr. Pierce worked in San Antonio for the Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He also won many trophies in golf tournaments as well as holds the Texas record for the biggest alligator ever caught.

Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Florence McCloskey Pierce; son, Joseph Pierce and wife Paula of Montalba; grandson, John Pierce and wife Deanne; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kyra, all of Corpus Christi.

Pallbearers will be Jim Campion, Walter Hamil, John Myer, Vic Poff, Dickie Douglas and Rodney McGee.
