Holly M. Hankins died peacefully on Nov. 14, 2013 in Humble, Texas at the age of 85. She was born to the Rev. Ernest K. Dougherty Sr. and Holly Harper Dougherty on Dec. 22, 1927 in Sweetwater, Texas. She married Herbert S. Hankins Sr. on Sept. 10, 1947.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother, Ernest Kie Dougherty Jr.; sisters, Margaret Swink, Eva Shelton and Mary Lynn Wallace; daughters-in-law, Sandy Hankins and Karen Hankins; and two grandsons, Robert Kie Hankins and Gregory Scott Hankins.

She is survived by sons, Herbert S. Hankins Jr. and wife, Mildredann, of Dallas, Texas; Dr. David E. Hankins and wife, Patty, of Alexandria, La.; James D. Hankins Sr. and wife, Valerie, of Palestine, Texas; Kie S. Hankins Sr. of Lampasas, Texas; daughter, Holly J. Reynolds and husband, Matt, of Humble, Texas; grandsons, David l. Hankins of Denver, Colo.; Timothy Hankins of Little Rock Ark.; Andrew Hankins and wife, Wendy, of Lake Charles, La.; Dr. Eric Hankins and wife, Janet, of Oxford, Miss.; Dr. Adam Hankins and wife, Betsy, of Mandeville, La.; Dr. Douglas Hankins and wife, Natalie, of Frisco, Texas; Gary Turner of Palestine, Texas; Michael Turner and wife, Kasey, of Taylor, Texas; Kie S. Hankins Jr. of Humble, Texas; granddaughters, Jennifer Hankins of Dallas, Texas; Katherine Conner and husband, Sean, of Palestine, Texas; and 25 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at Bethany Baptist Church, 7300 Bruton Road, Dallas, Texas, with grandsons, Drs. Eric Hankins and Douglas Hankins officiating.
