Services for Kay Wendlett Meador, 69, of Elkhart, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Butch Grant officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Kay passed away on Feb. 5, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 15, 1944 in Houston to Kathern and Joseph Lawrence. She was the second of four children but was always the “baby” of the family.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Meador; parents, Kathren and Emory Whitsitt and Joseph Lawrence; son, Mike Meador; and brother, Ray Lawrence.
She is survived by seven children, Truman and Lisa Scarborough of Buffalo, Lisa Stambridge of Elkhart, Perry and Jackie Scarborough of Santa Fe, David and Robbie Scarborough of Katy, Ronnie and Paula Meador of Elkhart, Bobbie and Calvin Patton of Palestine and Karen and Billy Covington of Rusk; 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and sisters, Kathy and Gene Adcock, Fay Lawrence and Dorthy and Silas Robbins.
Kay will be remembered by those that knew her as the one who always had a smile on her face and loved her family above all. When she was a baby she was extremely ill and her mother would rock her and sing “You Are My Sunshine.” Little did she know that sick little baby would grow to an amazing wife, mother and mops who always had something to say and would grow to truly be our sunshine.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
