Services for Bonnie Stringfield Bayless, 86, of Palestine, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel Palestine with Dan Manuel and the Rev. Clint Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.
Mrs. Bayless died Sunday at Trucare Living Center in Palestine.
She was born Nov. 17, 1926 in Poynor to Oliver “Doc” Wendell Stringfield and Ada Jewell Roberts Stringfield. She was a switchboard operator for Palestine Telephone Co., before marrying and becoming a homemaker.
Mrs. Bayless was preceded in death by her parents; husband, C.J. Bayless Sr.; son, Lyndal Grant Bayless; and brother, David Harrison “Red” Stringfield.
She is survived by sons, C.J. Bayless Jr. and wife Carol of Palestine and William R. “Bill” Bayless of Palestine; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lyndal (Gail) Bayless of Palestine; sisters, Martha Alyne Oden of Palestine, Alice Jane Berry of Palestine, Ann Nell Owen of Magnolia, Ark. and Mary Jo McCalister and husband Bill of Lufkin; brothers, Carl “Buster” Stringfield and wife Marie of Poynor, Jerry Gayton Stringfield of Palestine and Robert Lee Stringfield and wife Sue of Bullard; sister-in-law, Emma Jo Stringfield of Palestine; grandchildren, Justin Bayless and wife Crystal, Doug Bayless and wife Lori, Chance Bayless and wife Sarah and Lyndi Barrett and husband Jon; great grandchildren, Landri Bayless, Emma Bayless, Baylee Barrett, Lyndal Bowen Barrett, Grant Bayless, Cullen Bayless and Addie Minton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jon, Justin, Doug and Chance; and nephews; Tony Oden and Jeffrey Stringfield. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Bowen, Grant and Cullen.
Condolence calls will be received one hour prior to service at Bailey & Foster Palestine.
