Ethel Roepke

Services for Ethel Roepke, 92, of Palestine, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Zacharias Kunnakkattuthara officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart.  Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey& Foster Palestine.

 Mrs. Roepke passed away Thursday at the David E. Foster Hospice Unit/PRMC.  

She was born Dec. 4, 1920 in Brazoria County to Richard and Bessie Lanier Henson. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Ethel got so much joy and happiness from her loving family, having only one daughter and two grandchildren and three great grandsons.  She was able to be very close to them always trying to be at their activities and enjoy seeing them grow up.

Mrs. Roepke was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward E. Roepke, sister Ada Bullard and niece Joan Tunstall. She is survived by daughter, Jamie LeMoing and husband Richard of Elkhart; grandchildren, Dr. Chad Sims and wife Tammy of Laredo and Cindy Deaton and husband Bud of Friendswood; great grandsons, Jared and Cole Muske of Friendswood and Wesley Sims of Laredo; sister Beatrice Mills, 98-years-old of Angleton, nieces: Mary Ann Howard, Brenda Andrews and Eddie Ray Andrews; and nephews; James Bullard and Richard Mills.

Pallbearers will be Richard Mills, Donald Andrews, Scott Andrews, Charles Howard, Bill Gregoire, Joe Goss, James Blanchard and Bob Poinsett.

Condolence calls will be received from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Palestine.

A special thanks to the nurses on the third floor at Palestine Regional Medical Center, and to Dogwood Trails Assisted Living for their special care, and also her church family for all their love.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of East Texas or Sacred Heart Catholic Church building fund.
