Graveside services for Ronald Wayne Holmes of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at the Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery with Paul Jones officiating.
Ronnie passed away Dec. 25, 2013 in a Tyler hospital.
He was born July 20, 1950 in Palestine, Texas to Carroll Loyd Holmes and Mildred Lowe Holmes.
Ronnie loved fishing and hunting with his family in Fredericksburg, Friday night wrestling, and being a part of the tunnel crew at Palestine Wildcat football games. Ronnie was a member of the 1970 graduating class of Palestine High School and a member of the marching band. He worked many years for Schulman Theatres and Land of Memory Cemetery.
He was a resident at Tru Care where he enjoyed serving his fellow residents, especially Donna Britt, the love of his life.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother; brother, Steve Holmes and wife, Emily; sister, Linda Atwood and husband, Delton; nieces and nephews, Julie and Chad Middleton, Melissa and Chris Byrd, Josh Atwood, Austin and Samantha Atwood, Ashley Middleton, Chase Middleton, Isabella Byrd, and Reece Byrd. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and good friend, Jason Hosch.
Honorary pallbearers are Delton Atwood, Josh Atwood, Austin Atwood, Chad Middleton, Chris Byrd, Eddie Stanaland, Danny Brewer, Roger Holmes Jr. and Keith Lowe.
Family requests memorials be made to Palestine Community Food Bank, 1434 Court Dr., Palestine, Texas 75801.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home .
