Jed Allen Morris

Graveside services for Jed Allen Morris, 29, of Dawsonville, Ga., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Jed died Aug. 18 in Atlanta, Ga.

He was born Feb. 25, 1978 in Fort Worth to Paul and Andrea Maffitt Morris.

He had lived in the metropolitan Atlanta area for the past 10 years.

Mr. Morris was a 2002 graduate of the University of Alabama after which he worked in sales and underwriting in the insurance industry. He attended Perimeter Church in Duluth where he was a counselor for Camp All America for several years and volunteered in the after-school tutoring program. He was currently writing a screenplay.

He is survived by a son, Jacob Allen Morris of Alpharetta, Ga.; parents, Paul and Andrea Morris; and a sister, Amy French, all of Dawsonville, Ga.; and brothers, Jon Paul Morris of Cumming, Ga., and Jeremiah Morris of Houston.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Paul Morris, Jeremiah Morris, Ted Woodard, Samuel Woodard, Brian Fox, Bradley Fox and Chadd French.

Elouise Carroll

Services for Elouise Carroll, 85, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Davy Hobson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carroll died Wednesday at the Cartmell Home for Aged.

She was born Nov. 20, 1921 at Slocum to Roy Franklin and Lora Edmondson Franklin.

Mrs. Carroll was a member of Memory Lane Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Carroll, in 2005.

She is survived by son, Curtis Averitte of Palestine; sister, Loyce Franklin Watts of Tyler; brothers, Joe Bill Franklin of Santa Rosa, Calif. and Travis Franklin of Whitney; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be T.R. Franklin, Wayne Franklin, Floyd Suttle, Vernon Holliman, Doug Harris Jr., and Kenny Craig.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.



W.E. Bowen

Funeral arrangements for W.E. Bowen, 88, of Palestine are pending and Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mr. Bowen died Sunday at the David E. Bowen Hospice Unit of Palestine Regional Medical Center.
