Helen “Miss Helen” Congleton

Services for Helen “Miss Helen” Congleton, 78, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Congleton died Saturday in the David Foster Hospice Unit at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She was born at Breckenridge to Nollie Franklin Mize and Annie Mae Lawrence. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and was employed in the Southside’s Day Care Center. She was a member of the Palestine Eastern Stars.

‘Miss Helen’ was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Geneva Ruth Duffer, Lillie Mize and Alice Juanita Mize; and nephew Robert Duffer. 

She is survived by a sister, Katherine Johnson and husband Willie J. of Palestine; four nieces, Glenna Hubert, Sue Layne, Barbara Strauss and Cathy Duffer; nephew, Jerry Woody; numerous great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southside Baptist Church Nursery, 1500 Crockett Road, Palestine 75801.



L. Marie Poole Wright

Funeral services for Mrs. L. Marie Poole Wright, 83, of Crockett, will be held Monday at 10 a. m. in the Central Baptist Church in Crockett with Rev. John Goss and Rev. Tracy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Park in Palestine under the direction of Callaway-Allee Funeral Home in Crockett.

Mrs. Wright passed away Thursday in Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

She was born January 26, 1924 in Greensboro, N. Car., and was a resident of Crockett since 1962. She was retired from Allee’s Jewelry in Crockett where she had worked for over 30 years.

Mrs. Wright was a member of the Young at Hearts Club and was also a member of the Central Baptist Church in Crockett.

Survivors include a brother, Waldo Holt Poole of Greensboro, N. Car.; children, Ronda Grant and husband, Bobby of Chatfield, Jo Lynn Wright of Tyler, Tommy Wright and wife, Kathy of Teague, and R. Andrea Kirkham of Tyler; step-son, James David Wright and wife, Mary Ann of Palestine; grandchildren, Jason Grant, Chad Grant, Clint Herod, Rusty Herod, Daniel Wright and William Wright; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Vera Poole of Greensboro, N. Car., and Marie Hester of Crockett; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by husband, James F. Wright; parents, Everett and Mary Poole; and brothers, Bernard Lee Poole, E. C. Poole, Jr. and Elmer M. Poole.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.



Christopher Cole Minchew

Graveside services for infant Christopher Cole Minchew will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Oakwood with the Rev. Kevin Wilmont officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Christopher Cole Minchew was born Friday at Palestine Regional Medical Center to Chris and Heather Minchew of Maydelle.

He is survived by his parents, grandparents: Sondra and Kirk Stanley of Jacksonville; grandparents: Deborah and Earnest Minchew of Maydelle and paternal grandparents: Judy and Billy Minter of Palestine; great-grandparents: Linda Goff of Palestine, William Popham of Palestine and Helen and Harold Slate of Palestine; and one brother, Hunter Minchew of Maydelle.



Dan Allen Day

Funeral arrangements for Dan Day, 54, of Tennessee Colony, are pending at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Day died Friday evening in Anderson County.
