Era (Owens) Thetford

Services for Era (Owens) Thetford, 94, of Grapeland were 3 p.m. today at Grapeland’s First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Denham officiating and the Rev. Morris Ivey assisting. Burial followed at Refuge Cemetery off FM 227 E. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel, Grapeland.

Mrs. Thetford passed away Monday at East Texas Medical Center in Crockett.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Grapeland or to Sunset Christian Church, Grapeland.



Louise Blythe Dear

Memorial services for Louise Blythe Dear, 87, of Palestine were at 2 p.m. today at Norwood Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. William Snidow officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dear died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.



Anna Whiddon Jones

Services for Anna Whiddon Jones, 79, of Palestine, and formerly of Warren, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Charles McShan and the Rev. M.T. Blackmon officiating. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery near Kountze. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mrs. Jones died Wednesday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 5, 1928 in Silsbee to Thomas Jesse and Ruth Moore Whiddon.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was a member of the Glad Tidings Church and past commander of DAV Auxiliary No. 63.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, David C. Jones.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, David L. Jones of Palestine; daughters, Anna Marion Whittle of Bastrop, formerly of Bridge City, Fran Allen of Helena, Mont., and Patricia Stewart of Bradford; a son, Danny Jones of Palestine; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
