Annie Mae Glenn

Annie Mae Glenn went to sleep peacefully in her home Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008. She was born on July 11, 1919 in Elkhart, Texas to Miles and Minnie Mae Spruill Evans.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Mage Axum in World War II; her second husband, Milton T. Glenn; and her sister, Johnnie Bell Evans Smith.

She is survived by her son, Arthur Glenn and wife Allyn of Spring; daughter, Sharon Axum Brooks and husband Elmer of Palestine; sister, Mary Wanda Lane and husband Victor of Corsicana; grandchildren, Mark Brooks, Mike Brooks and wife Angela, Tanna Thomas and husband Derrell, and Chad Glenn and wife Leslie, all of Palestine, Kevin Glenn and wife Kristina of Nacogdoches, Ryan and Rebekah Glenn of Spring; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Glenn worked for many years in the lunch room at Four Pines School.

Services were at 3 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Burial followed in Land of Memory Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.



Robert Wesley Daniels

Robert Wesley Daniels, 51, of Palestine passed away on Dec. 7, 2008, at a local hospital in Palestine. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Dr. Buddy Sipe officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec., 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco.

Robert was born June 28, 1957, in Waco, Texas to Wesley Eugene Daniels and Virginia Lee Duncan Daniels.

From an early age, Robert’s favorite thing was “cars.” He had worked as an automotive mechanic for over 20 years. He loved dogs, (pit bulls) and cats and his motorcycles, but most of all, he loved and cherished his two daughters, Wesley Danielle and Rainy Rose Daniels -- they were his life.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene Daniels and Virginia Daniels Briggs.

He is survived by his two lovely daughters, Wesley Danielle of College Station and Rainy Rose of Stephenville; two sons, Wesley Keith and John Bryant; two stepchildren, Fred Crabtree and Nikki Moren; three sisters, Susan Mattingly of Rosenthal, Myra Satterfield and husband Doug of Palestine, and Stacy Cardwell and husband Bobby of Axtell; many nieces, nephews and a large extended family and many friends.



Kip “Shaggy” Alvin Hamilton

Kip “Shaggy” Alvin Hamilton of Palestine, son of Alvin E. Hamilton and Shirley A. Habedank Hamilton, passed away Dec. 3, 2008 in Temple, Tx. He was preceded in death by father Alvin and stepmother Pamela Hamilton.

He was born Feb. 24, 1956 in Flint, Michigan. Kip graduated from Atlanta High School where he was an all-state athlete. He attended Michigan State University. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. Kip was co-owner of Shaggy’s for many years. He was a master carpenter and enjoyed many business ventures.

He is survived by Eileen Handgis, longtime companion, beloved friend and partner; son, Kasey J. Hamilton; brothers, Clark (Joy) Hamilton, Kirk (Kim) Hamilton; Allan (Dawn) and stepson John and a stepbrother, Mark Davis; Eileen’s family, Ted Handgis and daughter Caylie; Lisa Anderson and son Jeffrey; Diana (Jon) Shultz; Kip’s nieces, Kourtney Hamilton, Katie Hamilton and Nicole (Karl) Vertner; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service may be held at a later date. Instead of memorial contributions, Kip would hope you will do a good deed for a friend or neighbor. — “Pay it forward.”



Syble Joan Roberts

Syble Joan Roberts, 83, passed to her Heavenly Home on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008.

She was born May 3, 1924 at Clintwood, Virg. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Paul Roberts; mother, Felicia Whitfield; and a brother, Victor B. Whitfield.

She is survived by a daughter, Rose Martin and husband Bruce of Palestine; son, John Roberts and wife Diana of Wise, Virg.; daughter, Dawn Sanchez of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Cindy, Cody, Jarret, Paige and Michael; and five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Timmy, Conner, Parker and Logan.

Services will be at the Grove Hill Cemetery, 3920 Samuell Blvd., Dallas. Viewing is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the local American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1700, Chicago, Ill. 60601.

The family would like to thank the love and caring the associates showed our mother while a resident at The Cartmell Home, especially The Sarah Center and Elizabeth Lane.



Buddy Martin

Funeral services for Buddy Martin, 80, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Don Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery.

Mr. Martin died Monday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

He was born May 18, 1928, in Shreveport, La. to the late Ardis and Bertha Hartzog Martin.

Mr. Martin began working in the oilfield at age 15 and retired from Sabio Oil and Gas in 1991. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Palestine and the Masonic Lodge Columbia 82 in Magnolia, Ark. He was an avid golfer and was a marshal at Pine Dunes Golf Course.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy Martin of Palestine; sons, Tammy Martin and wife Mattie of Fairfield and John Jackson and wife Terry of Katy; daughter, Drucy Best of Waco; sister, Joy Williams and husband James of Ruston, La.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Carrell Russell, Dwane Douthitt, M.L. Turner, David Turner, Leo Sis, Edward Camp, Randall Menefee and Aaron Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Collins, Joe Holloway and Mel Harding.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Grace Baptist Church, 1020 E. Palestine Ave., Palestine, Texas 75801.



Fagan Huff

Services for Fagan Huff, 86, of Grapeland will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Grapeland with the Rev. David Bradley and the Rev. Charles Haley officiating. Burial will follow in Dailey Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel, Grapeland.

Mr. Huff died Monday at East Texas Medical Center in Crockett.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel, Grapeland.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Building Fund, Grapeland, Texas.



Jeremy Michael Trebilcock

Memorial services for Jeremy Michael Trebilcock, 21, of Elkhart will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Elkhart Seventh Day Adventist Church with Cline Johnson officiating.

Jeremy passed away Saturday near Palestine.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jeremy Trebilcock Memorial Fund at Elkhart State Bank.



Harold Denson

Services for Harold Denson, 84, of Elkhart will be at 1 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Butch Lockhard officiating. Interment will follow in Strong Cemetery in Slocum under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Denson died Sunday at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.



Joshua Wilson

Services for Joshua Wilson, 20, of Elkhart will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Family of Faith Church with Dr. Betty Wilson and Justin Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in the Family of Faith Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilson died Saturday in Palestine.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.



Billy Cannon

Funeral arrangements for Billy D. Cannon, 76, of Neches, are pending at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Cannon died Tuesday at his residence.
