Barbara Jean Sherrard Cole, 86, of Palestine, went peacefully into the arms of her Lord, on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Services will be held on Monday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Park.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Monday, before the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
She was born in Streetman, Texas on Oct. 28, 1927 to Thomas and Verlilia Sherrard.
She was a faithful helpmate to her husband, Jerry B. Cole, for 56 years, in their business, Anderson County Equipment Company. She was a loving and dedicated mother and homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Palestine.
Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, John Cole McDonald; brothers, Thomas and Edwin Sherrard; and infant sister, Frances Sherrard.
She is survived by daughter, Linda Cole McDonald of Palestine; son, Jerry L. Cole of Austin; and brother, Sam Sherrard of Fort Worth.
Known as BaBa to her grandchildren, she is survived by Matthew and wife Christy McDonald of Conroe, Sarah and husband Justin Kniffen of Longview, and Jenny Todd McDonald, wife of the late John Cole McDonald. Great grandchildren include, Jeff and Kelly McDonald of Palestine, Eleanor and Barbara McDonald of Conroe, and Mallory, Brady and Brock Kniffen of Longview.
For the last few years, Mrs. Cole was blessed to have five loving and faithful caregivers, JoAnn Barker, Kathy Jones, Jean Jones, Amy Huddleston and Louise Jones.
Pallbearers will be Joe Ed Johnston, Gary Thomas, Johnny Walding, Bobby Walding, Justin Kniffin, Matthew McDonald and John Ballard McDonald.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or First Baptist Church.
