Sharon Carr

Funeral services for Sharon Carr, 58, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Bailey & Foster Chapel, with Ross Dickerson and Greg Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Sharon passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was born Nov. 21, 1955 in Palestine, to Leland Carr and Madeline Miller Carr.

Sharon was a very special person who never met a stranger. Her main love of life was helping take care of her sisters, brothers and nieces and nephews. She loved to play bingo, loved talking on her phone with her best friend, Ann Talbert, among many other friends and family. She had a great love for all types of music, and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a Christian and grew up attending First Baptist Church and visited many other local churches throughout her life. At the time of her death she was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Lisa Yorgensen.

She is survived by sisters, Karen McCoy and husband Jim of Houston, Cindy Penland and husband Marcus of Elkhart, Debbie Shepherd of Palestine, Tammie DeFore and companion Jerry Strahan of Elkhart; brothers, Larry Carr and wife Marilyn of Houston, Ronnie Carr and wife Kenna of Waco; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Paula Walker; along with niece and fulltime caregiver, Kasie Thompson; and beloved poodle, Boo Boo.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Greg Jenkins, Wade McCoy, David Carr, Jeremy Jenkins, Danny Carr and Timothy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Strahan, Jim McCoy and Marcus Penland.

Condolence calls will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster.
