Services for Velma M. Thomas Lively, 87, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m.. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Grapeland with the Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating. Burial will follow in Muse Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Lively went to be with the Lord, Tuesday at Tru Care Living Center.
She was born Nov. 18, 1926 in Palestine to Everett and Jessie Shubert Thomas.
Mrs. Lively was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grapeland, and a charter member of the Evangelistic Temple of Palestine. She served as past worthy matron of the Grapeland Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Lively was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.B. Lively, in 2004; and a sister, Doris Thomas. She is survived by her son, Jim Lively and wife Debbie of Palestine; a sister, Mary Shipp of Palestine; a brother, Archie Thomas and wife Novella of Palestine; grandsons, Sr.A Jason Lively, U.S. Air Force currently deployed to Qatar; and great-grandson, Jaden Lively of White Oak.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
