Memorial services for Kerry Kenneth Barnett Jr., 61, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and formally of Palestine, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Evangelistic Temple in Palestine, with Jason Harris, Kerry Barnett III, and Toby Barnett officiating.
Kerry passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Colorado Springs after a lengthly illness.
Kerry was born Sept. 22, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas to Kerry and Margie Barnett.
Kerry spent several years working for Union Pacific Railroad, and spent the next 30 years as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Most of his life was devoted to the ministry, ministering to children in an orphanage in Brazil, as a missionary, a counselor, a Bible teacher, an elder, and a sheppard to so many. He really loved the Lord, and he loved telling people about Jesus.
Kerry was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Cherry Lynn Barnett Weaver of Columbus, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia Barnett of Colorado Springs; stepmother, Harriett Barnett of Palestine; sons, James E. Barnett of Palestine, Kerry Barnett III and Jeremy E. Barnett, and wife Aileen, of Colorado Springs; brother, Toby Barnett and wife Linda of Palestine; grandchildren, Caleb, Makayla, and Sarah Barnett of Athens, Cassie Barnett of Palestine, and Vera Barnett of Colorado Springs.
