— Funeral services for Ernest Lee “Red” Dixon, 79, of Cushing, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 in the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Don Crawford officiating. Burial will be held in the Beaver Springs Cemetery in Henderson, Texas.

Mr. Dixon passed away Wednesday in Nacogdoches.

He was born May 2, 1933 in Henderson, Texas to Armond and Lillie Ward Dixon. He lived his early childhood in Henderson and the remainder of his life in Houston and Cushing.  

Mr. Dixon was a member of the Sacul Church of Christ where he was also a laborer and minister. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.  He also drove a school bus for Laneville and Nacogdoches independent school districts for many years and was a former member of the Cushing ISD School Board.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Dixon; and numerous brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bessie Fuller Dixon of Cushing; daughters and sons-in-law, Putrina Dixon and Roy Wallace of Henderson, and Debra and Glenn Idlebird of Houston; sister-in-law: Jewel Dixon of Henderson; aunt, Nettie Mae Dixon of Henderson; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews

Pallbearers will be JarVor Williams, Glenn Idlebird Jr., Cedric Idlebird, Chris Carter, Alfred Ray Dixon and Johnny Dixon. Honorary pallbearers are sons-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at the funeral home in Cushing.
