Betty Marie Zorn, 70, of Palestine, went to be with The Lord, on Friday, July 11, 2014 at approximately 2:47 a.m. in Jacksonville, Texas.
Betty was born in Elkhart, Texas on Oct. 17, 1943 to the late Dick and Effie Lee Dancer.
Betty was proceded in death by brothers, Ed Dancer and Terry Dancer; sister, Robbie; son, Calvin Gerome Shipper; ex-husband, Bobby Shipper; and husband, Jim Zorn.
Betty graduated from Elkhart High School. She went on to be one of the first women to work at Lone Star Steel. She then worked for the Texas Department of Corrections. She also was a licensed drug and alcohol counselor.
Betty is survived by sister, Janice; son, Gregory Gene Shipper of Palestine; daughters, Charlotte Ann King of Copperas Cove, Terri Lynn Orange and Craig Hall of Linden, Texas; daughter-in-law, Andrea Dawn Shipper of Washington, D.C.; and two stepchildren, Jason Zorn and Justin Zorn. Betty also has 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20 at New Haven Baptist Church in Elkhart, Texas.
Betty was very loved by all who knew her. She was a very strong, independent, caring woman who touched the lives and hearts of many. Betty's love and memories will always live on with us in our hearts.
