Reba passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.
She is survived by daughter, Robin Dee Lynch of Houston; son, Dennis Michael Hayes of Palestine; brother, Charles Richardson and family of Palestine; sister, Catherine Lawson of Longview; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Reba was preceded in death by daughter, Brenda Lark Hayes; son, Ronald Scott Hayes; husband, Robert E. Hayes, in 2008; and her parents, Charles and Margaret Richardson of Hot Springs, Ark.
Today would have been Reba and Robert Hayes’ 61st wedding anniversary. They were married Dec. 7, 1951 in Houston. Robert was an engineer and worked overseas in many different parts of the world. Reba traveled with her husband and furthered her education in those countries. She was the only outsider (non-Muslim) to be allowed to attend an all-girls Muslim school in Saudia Arabia in the early 1990s.
In 1998, the Hayes moved to Palestine. She enjoyed helping the Palestine community by serving on the parks and recreation board and serving various veterans organizations.
Reba was a true Southern girl, always ready for a challenge! Blessed with many gifts and talents, she freely shared with friends and neighbors. She kept us all uplifted with her words of faith and wisdom. With a keen sense of humor, she also knew how to make us laugh and to keep us lighthearted in times of stress.
Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16.
