Erin Bammel

Erin Bammel, 36, of Pert, passed away in a tragic car accident on Monday, May 19, 2014. She was born in Houston on Jan. 20, 1978, and attended Spring Branch public schools and Houston Community College where she earned an associate degree in criminal justice. She worked in police departments in Hedwig Village and Spring Valley in the Houston area. After moving to Palestine and her marriage to Kenny Bammel, she was associated with Red Hat Rentals as a party planner. 

In recent years she focused her attention on her husband and family. Her husband, children, and extended family were her whole life. Her interests included plants and gardening. She designed her family’s home, guiding and actually assisting in its construction. Always a caring person, she will be missed by students at Neches High School in Neches where she volunteered as well as by friends and extended family. 

She is survived by her husband, Kenny Bammel, of  Pert; her three children, Jacob Mangum of Houston, Mackenzie Beth Moses and Lily Elizabeth Bammel; and stepsons, Joseph, Justin, and Jason Bammel, all of Pert; her parents, Emily and David Guenzel; and brother and sister-in-law, Bryan Todd and Iverlyn Guenzel, all of Arlington; parents-in-law, Jean and Ani Bammel of Palestine and Deneen Bammel of Houston; and grandmother-in-law, Opal Thomas of Pert. 

A service celebrating her life will be held at 6 p.m. today at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Pert. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas  77030.
