Matthew Minter

Matthew “Bubba” Minter was 25 years old when he left his beloved family and friends on June 26, 2014, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas due to a long-term illness he had been battling since he was born.

Matthew was born Jan. 4, 1989, in Palestine, Texas. For most of his life he lived in the Palestine and Rusk areas. Matthew attended Navarro University and graduated with a nursing degree. He worked hard and accomplished a lot to get to where he did. He also worked as a car salesman while putting himself through college. Matthew also loved golf and baseball.

Matthew and Merlyn got married almost two years ago. They just had a baby 2 months ago, baby Eli. Matthew also had children, Brody and Delila, which also were the light of his life as well as baby Eli and Merlyn.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, L.B. Minter and Maxine Minter, Helen Slate, uncle Scoot Minter; and aunt Kelly Minter.

He is survived by his wife, Merlyn Minter; children, Brody, Delila, and Eli Minter; parents, Billy Minter and Sondra and Kirk Stanley; grandfather, Harold Slate; sisters and brothers, Hailey Stanley, Jordan Stanley, Chris Helmig; and Heather and Chris Minchew; aunts and uncles, Jerry Minter, Randy Minter, Brandon and Kelly Slate, Ricky and Bonita Slate, Ricky and Mary Minter, Danny and Martha Slate, Michael and Joanna Slate, Harold Slate, Raul and Darlene Stanley, Donna Stanley, Debra and Steven Anglin; niece and nephew, Hunter Minchew and Kastyn Minter; and many more family members and friends that loved him and will miss him dearly.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Oakwood with the Rev. Thomas Castillo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Cord Stover, Travis Stinson, Ricky “Snapper” Slate, Randall Slate, John Randall Minter, Jeremy Minter, Jeffrey Anthony and Mitch Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Anglin and Shane Anglin.
