Services for Elizabeth Stewart, 92, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at Memory Lane Missionary Baptist Church with Lloyd Wayne Stewart Jr. and Stewart Grounds officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Stewart died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born May 2, 1921 in Henderson County to Mark and Ludie Knott Sparks.
Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker. She was a member of the Memory Lane Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. Lloyd Stewart, in 1982; a son-in-law, Bo Grounds; and sisters, Theopal Avant and Irene Davis; and a brother, Homer Lee Sparks.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by her daughters, Juanita Grounds of Huntsville, Joy Cumston and husband Lester, and Gail Parker and husband J.D. of Palestine; a son, Wayne Stewart and wife Barbara of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Stewart and Tasha Grounds of Keller, Gary and Sharon Cumston of Palestine, Barry and Sherry Grounds of Pasadena, Judy and Chuck Blalock of Palestine, Wayne and Christina Stewart of Grapeland, and Brad and Donna Parker of Palestine; 15 great-grandchildren, Thomas and Amber Cumston, Katie Grounds, Courtney Cumston, Cody Grounds, Kristen Grounds, Amber and Ryan Rainey, Karley Grounds, Tucker Grounds, Caroline Parker, Taylor Cumston, Lloyd Blalock, Brynn Parker, Zane Grounds, Claire Stewart and Samuel Stewart; three great-great-grandchildren, Ayden Cumston, Keara Rainey and Jackson Cumston.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
