— Services for Gladys Whitley Bridges, 94, of Elkhart, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Elkhart with the Rev. Bill Gernenz officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mrs. Bridges died Friday at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.

She was born June 8, 1919, in Groesbeck to John Thomas and Mattie Bagwell Roberts.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. She was faithful to the church and Sunday school. She worked at Quarles Grocery, Benton Knott Grocery, Coffman’s and retired from Denvers Quick Stop.

Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 55 years, John Whitley; and her second husband, Lee Bridges in 1999; she was also preceded by her five sisters, Pearl Roberts, Minnie Pierson, Hazel Newsom, Ethel Dear and Mozelle Smith; three brothers, Clyde Roberts, J.D. Roberts and Curtis Lee Roberts.

Mrs. Bridges is survived by her sons, Bobby Whitley and wife Betty of Palestine, and Kenneth Whitley and wife Linda of Palestine; grandsons, William Earl Whitley, John Steven Whitley I and wife Jennifer, and David Lynn Whitley and wife Denise; great-grandchildren, Stacy Elaine Whitley-Rains and husband Rodney, Amanda Lea Whitley, John Steven Whitley II, and Matthew Dustin Whitley; great-great-grandchildren, Pippia Leann Whitley and Blake Rains; other grandchildren, Zee Thornton and wife Darlene, Zina Hardy, and Toby Thornton; great-grandchildren, Brent Hardy, Kristina Hardy, Katlyn Wallace, Keith Thornton, Crystal Biggs and Christian Thornton; and great-great-grandchildren, Lakin, Landon, and Kolbi Hardy and Noah Biggs.

Pallbearers will be William Earl Whitley, John Steven Whitley I, David Lynn Whitley, John Steven Whitley II, Matthew Dustin Whitley and Mike Whitley.

Condolence calls will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
