Services for Ersline Louise King Williams, 87, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Palestine. Burial will follow in Fort Houston Cemetery in Palestine under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
Ersline was born Jan. 23, 1927 in Palestine, Texas to the parents of Lev and Willie Mae Mitchell King. She was the third of five children. Ersline graduated from Lincoln High. She graduated from Sweats Beauty College in Tyler, Texas with a beautician license. She continued her education at Trinity Valley Community College with a LVN license.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Jersusalem Primitive Baptist Church. Later, she joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She served on the Missionary Society, choir, trustee and pastor's aide.
Ersline married Ovesta Shampine. This union was blessed with one child. She later married Archie Wiliams Sr. This union was blessed with five children.
Ersline worked as a nurse. She was a member of NAACP. On Feb. 2, 2014, in Palestine, Texas, Ersline left this earth to join her Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lev and Willie Mae King; husbands, Ovesta Shampine and Archie Williams Sr.; two sons, Archie Williams Jr. and Charles Wiliams; daughter, Brenda Clewis; sister, Hallene Henry; and brother, Roscoe “C-Boy” King.
Those left behind to remember sweet memories are: son, Lewis C. Shampine of Palestine, Texas; two daughters, Dorothy Harrell and Audrey L. Williams, both of Palestine, Texas; brother, James H. King of Houston, Texas; sister, Ora Lee Austin of Palestine, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
