Joan Lowe

Joan Alice (Reynolds) Lowe was relieved of her earthly limitations on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in Palestine. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Bailey & Foster Chapel in Palestine with interment to follow at Land of Memory.

Condolence calls will be received from 5 to 7 p.m.. Friday at Bailey & Foster. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Joan was born June 17, 1929 in Parker County to Ruel and Ethel (McCall) Reynolds. She was raised in Jones County and graduated from Lueders High School. After receiving her Bachelor's degree and teaching certification from Abilene Christian College in 1950 she married Edwin Lowe. The couple soon moved to El Campo where Ed began teaching history and Joan used her Home Ec training to make a loving home. In addition to raising their five children she served as a faithful elder's wife at the local Church of Christ. Joan and Ed spent most of their 63 years together in El Campo before moving to Palestine. In East Texas they found a warm welcome at the Frankston Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband and their five children [her life's work], Gary (Sandy) Lowe and Lisa (Jay) Mayes of Abilene; Cindy (Mike) Stewart of Palestine, Phyllis (Jim) Beck of Lubbock; and David Lowe of Storrs, CT. There are 13 grandchildren, Bethany, Bradley, Bryan and Bryce Stewart, Matt Lowe, Abby McNeil, Caleb, Nathan, Lindsey Beck, Kim Lowe, Austin, Tyler and Lacy Mayes, and 14 great-grandchildren Brylee, Kaylee, Zayne, Adylee, Casyn, Rynlee, Reagan, Kyle, Cameron, Madison and Makenna Stewart, Mary Lowe, Adin and Caris Beck spread from Arizona to Rwanda, Africa. She is also survived by a large extended family.

Preceding Joan in death were her parents, brothers OK, Bish, Jack, and Reg Reynolds; two sisters, Gene Ware and Geraldine Reynolds; and one great-grandson, Liam Lowe. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
