Chester Glomp, Sr., 92, a resident of Palestine for 35 years, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at Palestine Regional Medical Center from a sudden illness.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Chicago, Ill. to Joseph and Victoria Glomp.
He had four brothers and one sister who preceded him in death. He was the youngest sibling.
He was married to Dorothy A. Kelley of Wooddale, Ill. and they resided in Bensenville, Ill. before moving to Texas in the mid ‘70s. She preceded him in death in 1995.
Mr. Glomp served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired factory worker with Radio Steel Manufacturing Company.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Hardin of Palestine; son, Chester Glomp Jr. of Iron River, Mich.; four grandchildren, Brad Hardin and Justin Hardin. both of Palestine. Rebecca Schmidt and Matthew Glomp. both of Michigan; five great-grandchildren, Braiden Hardin, Jaiden Hardin, Audrey Schmidt, Jared Agnew and Dylan Hudson.
