Graveside services for Frances Virginia Brown, 92, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Palestine City Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Dees officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Graham, Texas to Clarence and Fannie Sinclaire Thorpe.
Mrs. Brown had lived in Palestine most of her life and was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church. She worked many years at the family owned businesses of the Old Mill Inn Restaurant and Thorpe’s Bait Shop. She also worked for Davenport’s Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jerry Brown.
She is survived by her son, Mike Hays and wife Eileen of Palestine; daughter, Diana Venable and husband James of Chandler; four grandchildren, Chris Sheridan, Kayce Sheridan, Michael Hays and Matt Hays; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Matt Hays, Michael Hays, Chris Sheridan, Charles Grasty, Craig McKenzie and Jody Parker.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
