Melinda Chrisp Redding

Melinda Chrisp Redding, 56, of Irving passed away after a sudden illness on Sunday, Aug. 4 at Medical Center of Plano.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 at Oak View Baptist Church in Irving with Mark Roberts of Westside Church of Christ officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Oakwood City Cemetery in Oakwood, officiated by James Haynes Jr. of Oakwood Church of Christ.

Melinda loved the Bible and was a committed Christian. She had a Bachelors  in Home Economics and Masters in Education. Melinda was also an excellent cook. She was a talented seamstress that owned her own alteration business so she could be a stay-at-home mom. She taught one year at Oakwood High School, which led to her to be introduced to her husband Michael. After her kids started school, Melinda taught at W.T. Hanes Elementary in Irving and was a diagnostician at Hebron Valley Elementary in Lewisville for one year. Over the past several years she embraced knitting, which became another of her many talents.

Melinda is survived by her husband, Michael Redding — having celebrated 31 years of marriage on July 31, the day before Melinda was struck ill; sons, Guy Redding of Dallas and Ethan Redding of Irving; daughter, Elizabeth Redding of Irving; father, Dick Chrisp of Marion, Ind.; mother, Sarah Chrisp of Gilmer; brothers, David Chrisp of Longview and Joe Chrisp of Gilmer.

Pall bearers are Paul Gause, Charles Tomlinson, Scott Hounchell, Billy Harrington, Mark Rodgers, Glen Barrilleaux and Bob Redding.
