Services for Earl Garner, 80, of Elkhart, were held at 1 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Bill Garner officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Creek Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.
Mr. Garner passed away Wednesday at his residence.
He was born July 13, 1933 in Maydelle to William and Cassie Williams Garner. He was a 32nd degree Mason and retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice — Institutional Division as a maintenance supervisor. He was a welder for many years and an avid fiddle player.
Mr. Garner was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances Garner; daughter, Mollie Warren; sister, Helen Clark; and brothers, Pearl and Doris Garner.
He is survived by daughter, Kathy Starkey and husband Sandy of Palestine; son, Ed Garner and wife Terry of Palestine; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sandy Starkey, Cody Meredith, Clay Meredith, Kenneth Keen, Rashad Mims and Mark Kirkwood.
