George E. Freeman Jr. passed away on Nov. 17, 2012.
Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City from 3 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at 3 p.m. at City Cemetery in Palestine, Texas. Clint Surles of Palestine, Texas, his close friend of 72 years, will conduct the service.
George was born near Vivian, Louisiana on March 9, 1924 to George Evin and Viola McMahon Freeman.
He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Arkansas and had lived in Shreveport-Bossier since 1956. George was retired from Louisiana Industries, and previously had worked in the petroleum industry. He was a member of North Highlands United Methodist Church. Over the years, George taught the Men’s Sunday School class and served the church in many other capacities.
George was an honorably discharged veteran who served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a member of the Palestine Masonic Lodge for over 60 years.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, June Davis Freeman, originally of Palestine, Texas; and by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Mark E. Freeman of Wilmington, Del.; and by his sister, Helen Freeman Lynch of Conway, Ark.
Pallbearers will be James Miller Sr., Andrew Davis, John Ogden, Jeffrey Miller, James Miller, Jr., Davis Dickson and Wayne Davis.
