Grace Evelyn Serrao passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 at New Life Community Church (Hwy. 155) in Palestine with the Rev. Doug Washburn officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Grace was born June 29, 1939, in Arp, Texas to Gladys Lucille Dean Wilson and Forest Fenton Wilson. She married Patrick Henry Kamakawahine Serrao (Paw) on Nov. 1, 1959. After living in Hawaii for a short time, they moved to Texas and lived in Arp for many years. They moved to Elkhart in 2001.

Mrs. Serrao was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; and a granddaughter, Rachel Gray.

Grace was a homemaker for most of her life and devoted her heart and soul to her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, and especially Nana. She loved reading, Elvis, “collecting,” going to the boats with her sister Margie, traveling to see her ohana in Hawaii, and spending time with her family.

Grace is survived by her sisters, Marjorie Webb and husband Jerry of Troup, Marion Fletcher of Arp, and Patty Burnett and husband, Billy, of Arp; brother, Dean Wilson of Arp; daughters, Patricia Gray and husband, Jon, of Slocum, Rose Marie Serrao of Keller, and Tina Quick and husband, Timmy, of Elkhart; grandchildren, Candice Andrews and husband, Cody, of Monahans, Jennifer Massey and husband, Danny, of Kyle, Nick Soto of Dallas, Tricia Thatcher and husband, Michael, of Elkhart, Brandon Serrao of Keller, Trevor Quick of Elkhart, Jasmine and Michaela Murray of Keller; great grandchildren, Preston, Tristen, Kiersten Grace, and Rilee Andrews, all of Monahans, Lucas and Brazos Thatcher of Elkhart, Karlin Roman, Cameron Gray, Cileigh and Ceaser Evangelista of Palestine. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Stella O’Brien, Rose Marie Smith, Annette Costayres, Lillian Serrao all of Hawaii, and Connie Sinclair of Franklin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Nick Soto, Brandon Serrao, Trevor Quick, Danny Massey, and Cody Andrews, and son-in-law Timmy Quick.
