Services for Phillip Morris, 74, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Woody Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Morris died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 26, 1939 in Goldthwaite, Texas to Marion Carl and Hallie Triplett Morris.
Phillip graduated as a chemical engineer from Oklahoma State University and earned his MBA from Lamar University. Phillip worked in the chemical engineering field for 50 plus years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was on several committees. He enjoyed his family, traveling, woodworking, and dedicated his life to church and God. Phillip had a quick wit and was a fun storyteller. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Sandy Morris.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Morris of Palestine; daughters, Jackie Howard and husband Richard of Houston, and Jody Morris of Houston; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Lyons, Angela Howard Smith, Sophie Onofrey and MeMoe Onofrey.
