— Services for Billy Ray Wallace, 71, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Dogwood Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Wilmott officiating. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery in Jacksonville under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.

Mr. Wallace died Thursday in Tyler.  

He was born Feb. 23, 1941 in Jacksonville to William David Wallace and Katy Milburn Johnson Wallace. He was a member of Dogwood Hills Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who loved life to the fullest and was loved by all.

Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester Johnson, Thomas Wallace and Milburn Wallace.  

He is survived by his wife, Mary Wallace of Palestine; daughter, Sue Wallace of Palestine; son, Darrell R. Wallace of Elkhart; stepson, John Ivers and wife Heather of Waxahachie; sisters, Merline Kitchens and Wanda Ivey, both of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Dustin Wallace and wife Brandi, Dana Wallace, Katlin Wallace, Max Ivers and Leigh Ivers; great-grandchildren, Tatum and Tobin Wallace; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Steve Parker, Paul Pesce, Glynn Toole, Curtis Axum, Jimmy Gaines and Tommy Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Plummer, Marcus Pendland, Mike Pike and Will Morgan.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Palestine.
