ATHENS — Lois Emma Lambright Hickman passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at the age of 93.

She was born July 31, 1919 to Lila Girdner and Charlie B. Lambright and attended schools in Sampson, Pine Grove, Bois D’Arc, Montalba and Athens from 1924 to 1935.

On Oct. 29, 1936 she married Cecil Francis Hickman. They were married 61 years when Cecil died in 1997. Their union was blessed with six children. Lois’s professional life included employment at the Dixie Theater, Piggly Wiggly Grocery, C.T. Bush Super Market, J.C. Penney and Hollywood Vassarette until her retirement.

She and Cecil were active members of First Baptist Church where they lived their Christian faith in serving the church and others. Lois was a member of the Mary/Martha Class and the Joy Choir.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; husband, Cecil; two sons, Charles Wayne and Danny Lee; and son-in-law, Weldon Cleveland.

She is survived by daughters, Linda Sue Douglas and husband Ron of Georgetown, and Cecil Diane Cleveland of Arlington; sons, Jesse Dee Hickman and wife Cathy of Palestine, Walter Glenn Hickman and wife Debra of Denton; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Pat Hickman, Josh Hickman, Scott Douglas, Aaron Hickman, Ron Douglas and Ervin Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are Cliff Lowe, Jay Henson and James Brost.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 in Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Dr. Bill Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
